Audiobook Innovations at Spotify Investor Day — And What It Means for You

Today, at Spotify Investor Day, we shared a look at where we're taking our Books business — and everything that we announced was built with authors and publishers in mind. Across both Spotify for Authors and new listener-focused features, one thing is clear: Spotify is more invested in books than ever before, and there's never been a bigger opportunity for the people who write and publish them.
We build these experiences alongside our publishing partners and authors, and your input shapes what we make. Some of what was shared today is still ahead of us, and specifics like market availability, eligible Spotify plans, and feature details may change before launch.
Here's everything you need to know.
Spotify for Authors now in 10 new languages
Spotify for Authors is now available in ten additional languages — French, Canadian French, German, Dutch, Latin American Spanish, Swedish, Finnish, Icelandic, Danish, and Norwegian — which means the full platform experience, including the website, blog, and product itself, is now accessible in the language you work in. For authors writing and publishing outside the English-speaking world, this is a meaningful step toward making Spotify for Authors more accessible, and we're excited to open the doors wider. You'll find the option to switch to one of these languages in your account settings starting today.
Opening a new door to audio for self-published authors
We're also introducing a beta test of Audiobook Creation Tools, a new way for self-published authors to create an audio edition of their book directly inside Spotify for Authors. The tools use digital voice models from ElevenLabs to take a finished manuscript and generate a complete audiobook. Authors will be able to produce up to five English-language audiobooks for free, and will have the ability to review the narration and address things like pronunciation before their title goes live. We're launching this soon as a closed beta, working with a small group of self-published authors to gather feedback as we develop the experience. If you're interested in getting early access, you can apply here.
Finding your book just got more natural
Spotify will give eligible Premium listeners a more conversational way to find what they want to read next and engage with their existing books. Instead of searching for a specific title or browsing by genre, Premium listeners can now describe what they're looking for — and Spotify will surface recommendations tailored to them. For authors, this expands how your book gets found, because it opens discovery up to the full texture of a title: its tone, setting, emotional arc, and the kinds of readers it's likely to resonate with. A listener who might never have otherwise found your book can now discover it through a conversation about exactly the kind of story they're in the mood for.
Coming this summer: Your books, in more playlists
Launching this summer, Prompted Playlists will expand into audiobooks, giving eligible Premium listeners the ability to ask Spotify to build a reading list around a mood, theme, or interest. For authors, this creates a new kind of discovery: one that's driven by what a listener is feeling in the moment, not just what they already know to search for. A reader looking for something atmospheric and slow-burning, or a quick listen for their commute, might now find your book through a playlist they built themselves — which is exactly the kind of organic, personalized discovery that turns a listener into a longtime fan.
Also this summer: More ways for listeners to access your books
Finally, Spotify is expanding Audiobooks+ subscription options in select markets, giving listeners more flexibility to access audiobooks for longer durations. A broader range of subscription tiers means a broader potential audience for your work, and more pathways for the right reader to find what you've written.
